The rules

1. Every round the wheel lands on a country and a World Cup year, 1966 to 2026. Draft one player from that squad into an open slot.
2. Pick your draft size. Quick Draft is six rounds; Full Team is a complete XI over 11 rounds, with three FLEX slots you can fill with any outfield player.
3. Pick your difficulty. Easy shows overall ratings as you draft. Hard hides them, so you go on name and gut alone.
4. Your Team OVR starts as the average rating of your XI, then climbs for 99-rated legends, captains and major individual awards. The best squads push past 100.
5. Your FLEX picks settle your XI into a real formation and a tactical identity. Shape changes how matches play out, but it does not change your Team OVR.
6. Simulate the group stage, the knockouts and the final against real historical squads. Quality leads, but upsets happen and level matches go to penalties.

How hard is the trophy?

Deliberately hard. An 86 OVR side lifts it a couple of percent of the time, 90 is about one in five, 92 about two in five, and a 99-rated super team wins it upwards of 80%. Below 86 it is a long shot by design, and squads in the low 80s face an extra hurdle in the first knockout rounds.

• Daily Challenge. One themed draft, the same for everyone, every day. Build a streak.
• Online Friendly. Draft and get matched 1v1, then watch the match play out live.
• Online World Cup. A 48-player pool splits into 12 groups of 4, then a 32-team knockout.

Draft strategy that survives the knockouts

• Full Team is the truer test. Eleven rounds means eleven chances for the wheel to hand you a dud year. Use the three FLEX slots to absorb the wheel's worst draws: any outfield player fits there, so a wasted round never has to wreck the XI.
• Draft the year, not just the badge. The wheel spans 1966 to 2026, and every squad is the real one from that tournament. A giant in a weak cycle is a trap; a smaller nation in its golden year is a gift.
• Captains and honours are hidden points. Team OVR starts as your XI's average, then climbs for 99-rated legends, captains and major individual awards. Two picks with hardware can outscore three quiet 88s.
• On Hard, anchor to tournaments you know. With ratings hidden, your protection is history: if you can name what that player did that summer, you can draft him blind.

What the odds table is telling you

The trophy math is published on purpose: about a couple of percent at 86 OVR, one in five at 90, two in five at 92, and 80% or better for a 99-rated super team. Two lessons hide in it. First, every OVR point matters, because the curve is steep exactly where good squads live. Second, squads in the low 80s face an extra hurdle in the first knockout rounds, so the jump from 83 to 86 is worth more than it looks. Getting over 86 should be the floor you draft for, and pushing past 90 is where runs become expectations.

Shape, identity and the sim

Your FLEX picks settle the XI into a real formation and a tactical identity. Shape does not move your Team OVR, but it changes how matches play out, which is a different thing: level games swing on it, and level knockout games go to penalties. Quality leads over a tournament, but a single simulated match is honest about football: favourites get caught. That is why the Daily Challenge streak is the real skill test, one themed draft a day, the same for everyone, where consistency beats one lucky run.
