Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
RunThe.GG ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain terms, what information is and isn't collected when you use runthe.gg and any of the games hosted on it, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and what choices you have. It applies to every page and every game on this site.
Information we collect
If you play as a guest, we collect no personal information from you. You never need an account to play. Your progress in that case is stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your device, and we cannot read it.
If you choose to create a free RunThe.GG account, we collect and store:
- Your email address, so you can sign in and recover your account.
- A username you choose, which is what appears publicly on leaderboards.
- Your year of birth, collected once at sign-up as a neutral age screen so we can meet legal age requirements and set advertising appropriately.
- Your gameplay record: scores, saved careers and squads, streaks, trophies, achievements and leaderboard rank.
- If you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google returns to us as part of that sign-in. We never receive your Google password.
Like almost all websites, our hosting and security providers also process standard technical information automatically when you load a page, including your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own independent use.
Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies, local storage and similar technologies for three purposes:
- Strictly necessary: keeping you signed in and remembering your settings and local game progress. These are always active because the site cannot work without them.
- Analytics: understanding, in aggregate, how many people visit and which games are popular.
- Advertising: serving and measuring the ads that keep the site free.
You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and stop your progress from saving.
Advertising and third-party vendors
RunThe.GG is free to play and is funded entirely by advertising. To do that we use Google AdSense. The following disclosures are made in line with Google's requirements for publishers:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices, or for European users at youronlinechoices.eu.
- A full list of the companies that may set cookies for advertising on this site is available in Google's list of ad technology providers.
Where required by law, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we use a Google-certified consent management platform to ask for your consent before any advertising or analytics cookie is set. Until you make a choice, our pages send Google Consent Mode signals that deny advertising storage by default. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the privacy settings link the consent tool provides.
In addition, visitors who are not confirmed to be 18 or over, including everyone playing as a guest, are served non-personalised ads only.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand general, aggregated patterns such as how many people visit and which games are popular. This helps us decide what to build next. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with your account details. You can opt out across all sites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Other services we rely on
Accounts, leaderboards and saved progress are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and we load web fonts from Google Fonts and some code libraries from the jsDelivr CDN. Each of these providers may process technical data such as your IP address in order to deliver the content you requested.
Where your data is held and how long we keep it
Our providers store data on servers in the United States and other countries, so your information may be transferred outside the country you live in. We keep account data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your email, username and saved progress; anonymised or aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may remain.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, receive a copy of it, or withdraw consent you previously gave. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have equivalent rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under California law.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@runthe.gg and we will respond within the time your local law allows.
Children
RunThe.GG is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Account creation is age-screened and blocked for anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email hello@runthe.gg and we will delete it promptly.
Security
Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored by us in a form we can read. All traffic to this site is encrypted over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the small amount of information we hold.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above will reflect any changes, and material changes will be announced on the site.
